The Severed Sun – Original Film Soundtrack
Accompanying the US theatrical release of Dean Puckett’s new folk horror film, The Severed Sun, we are excited to announce the release of its atmospheric soundtrack by Unknown Horrors. Featuring stunning cover art by award-winning artist, Jock (Dredd/Wytches/Batman: The Black Mirror).
Unknown Horrors is a musical collaboration between composers Brain Rays, James Forde Stewart and Thomas Michael Williams.
Under the name Bizarre Rituals, the trio have created soundtracks for: Dean Puckett’s Straight8 winner, Satan’s Bite, which premiered at Cannes, as well as award-nominated documentary, Honey at the Top. They also soundtracked Puckett’s BFI-supported short films: The Sermon (Vimeo Staff Pick/Palm Springs) and Circles (ALTER).
Other projects have included working with Lotje Sodderland (My Beautiful Broken Brain) on her film, The Institute of Isolation, with science fiction artist, Lucy McRae.
This soundtrack for The Severed Sun was created during two weeks of experimentation in Sorting Room Studios using double bass, Prophet 6, Juno 60 and Ms20, and an array of weird guitar pedals.
