Benjamin Hudson is a composer and sound designer working in film, theatre, television and games. He has soundtracked commercial films for a diverse range of clients including adidas, MTV, Stonewall, Google, Nokia, Intel and Unicef. He has also produced sound design and original music for games and apps. His clients include Mutant Labs, Cartoon Network and Because Music.
Benjamin has worked closely with directors in film and theatre to produce innovative and original scores. He co-composed the soundtrack for Dean Puckett’s Straight8 winner; Satan’s Bite which premiered at Cannes, as well as Puckett’s award-nominated documentary; Honey at the Top and his BFi-supported short films; The Sermon (Vimeo Staff Pick/Palm Springs) and Circles (ALTER). Benjamin also created the music for Rhys Chapman’s film; Wonderkid and co-composed the soundtrack for Max Sobol’s feature film; You (Us) Me, which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival.
In the theatre world, Benjamin is a long-term collaborator with award-winning anarchic theatre makers, In Bed With My Brother, creating music and sound for their shows PRIME_TIME (Barbican), Tricky Second Album (Edinburgh Fringe) and their breakout production, WE ARE IAN. He has also worked with MAGNA on their acclaimed Vault Festival show, BEIGE, as well as The Mozart Question (The Barn) Ragnarok (Eastern Angles), The Snow Queen, Hansel & Gretel, Henry I, Matilda The Empress, The Last Abbot (Rabble) and Helver’s Night (York Theatre Royal).
As a music producer (Brain Rays/Baconhead), Benjamin has released and promoted experimental music for the last 20 years. He has worked with a diverse range of labels; from making underground dance music for small independents to creating albums for Universal Publishing. This has allowed him to experiment with a broad range of production techniques and musical styles. He has performed across Europe, the US, and at many major UK festivals, alongside two live sessions at Maida Vale Studios for BBC Radio 1.
